Why does alcohol disinfect

Alcohol can disinfect, thanks to its very strong volatile effect. Alcohol, also known as ethanol, is an organic compound, and the clinically applied disinfecting alcohol is a 75% alcohol solution that kills bacteria by coagulating bacteriophage proteins, as well as killing bacteria that grow inside skin folds. It is extremely capable of destroying bacterial cells, but it is also more irritating. For some pain-sensitive patients, using alcohol to disinfect wounds is often very painful, and alcohol is generally not suitable for disinfection with the eyes, nose, and other parts of the body, because the mucous membranes in these areas are more sensitive and can easily become irritated. The commonly used clinical disinfectant solution is also iodophor, which has a wide range of disinfection and can form a protective film in the wound to protect it from bacterial invasion, so you can choose to use iodophor in combination with alcohol, and too painful wounds can use iodophor alone.
