Alcohol physical cooling methods

Alcohol-based physical cooling is done by mixing a small amount of alcohol with warm water and wiping the patient’s neck, armpits, and the root of the thighs where the large blood vessels travel bilaterally with a towel. However, it is not recommended to apply this method of alcohol physical cooling, because when patients apply alcohol physical cooling, alcohol will be absorbed from the skin and mucous membrane, and if patients apply cephalosporin antibiotics, it will produce a disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol, resulting in patients not being able to apply cephalosporin antibiotics for a week before and after alcohol physical cooling, so it is recommended that patients use warm water for physical cooling instead of alcohol.
