How to treat the mentally ill

The first step in treating a psychiatric patient should be to correctly identify and analyze the patient’s symptoms. If the patient has an obvious trigger for producing symptoms and the psychiatric symptoms are not severe. For example, if the patient has difficulty adapting to the surrounding environment due to further education or moving to an unfamiliar environment, or if the patient has anxiety disorder and often worries about something inexplicably, these symptoms are relatively less serious and the social damage to the patient is lower, the patient can be supported and encouraged more in life. Help patients to participate in more outdoor activities or group activities to relieve their bad mood, and if necessary, encourage them to undergo hospital consultation. However, if the patient’s symptoms are more severe, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, the patient must be encouraged or even required to go to a regular hospital for formal diagnosis and treatment. Systematic medication must be administered for this type of illness in order to achieve better results. Therefore, for psychiatric patients, the first step is to determine the severity of the patient’s illness. If it is mild, life interventions can be made, but if it is moderate to severe, regular medication must be administered.
