Transdermal bilirubin measurement in newborns is an easy way to monitor neonatal jaundice. The bilirubin value is quickly obtained by contacting the skin with a transdermal bilirubin meter, and although the value is not as accurate as a blood test, it can quantify the degree of change. The initial diagnosis of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia requires blood tests for liver function and total serum bilirubin values, and continuous monitoring of the child’s bilirubin values after anti-yellowness treatment. After the treatment has reached a certain level, the specific serum bilirubin value can be collected and tested to determine the effect of the treatment.
