Objective:To explore the clinical value of adjuvant biologic therapy, targeted therapy and interferon therapy after surgery for locally progressive renal cancer.
Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 48 patients, 30 males and 18 females, aged 49-72 years, average (56.6±12.8) years, admitted to our hospital from May 2011 to May 2013 after radical open or laparoscopic renal cancer surgery, who were pathologically confirmed to have local lymph node metastasis or T3 stage renal cancer. Among them, 20 cases were treated with biological therapy, 13 cases were treated with targeted drugs and 15 cases were treated with interferon after surgery.
RESULTS:After 3-20 months of follow-up, 1 case of lung metastasis was observed in the targeted drug therapy group, 2 cases of local recurrence in the biologic therapy group, and 1 case of local recurrence in the interferon therapy group.
Conclusion:Radical nephrectomy is still the treatment of choice for locally progressive renal cancer. For patients with isolated adrenal metastasis, simple regional lymph node metastasis, and isolated renal vein or inferior vena cava aneurysm embolism, the survival rate of patients can be improved by surgery. Adjuvant therapy after surgery for locally progressive renal cancer may improve patient survival, but no significant differences in the effectiveness of the three postoperative adjuvant treatment options were found at short-term follow-up.
