Bubonic plague is a virulent infectious disease caused by infection with the bacterium Yersinia pestis, which can be transmitted from person to person. The main ways of transmission of this disease are transmission between animals and people, skin transmission and respiratory droplet transmission.
1. Transmission between animals and people: this disease is mainly transmitted by rat fleas, which can constitute the transmission mode of “rodent-rat flea-human”.
2. Skin-to-skin transmission: some people may be infected after coming into contact with pus or sputum of patients.
3. Respiratory droplet transmission: Yersinia pestis in the patient’s lungs can be transmitted through droplets, which can cause mass infection.
As plague is highly contagious, once diagnosed, patients should seek medical treatment and self-isolation to avoid mass infection.
