What foods to avoid while breastfeeding

(1) Wheat milk extract should not be taken during lactation: because wheat milk extract contains a certain amount of maltose and maltol, and its malt is the main medicine for returning milk, if wheat milk extract is used as a tonic for lactating mothers after delivery, the result will be less milk or no milk for mothers. (2) The mother should eat less or no MSG during the breastfeeding period: because MSG is monosodium glutamate, after consuming a large amount of MSG, it can enter the baby’s body with the milk. At this time, monosodium glutamate can specifically combine with zinc in the baby’s blood to produce zinc glutamate which is not easily absorbed by the body and is excreted with urine, thus making the baby’s body zinc deficient. Zinc is an essential trace element for the growth and development of infants, and if it is lacking for a long time, it can cause a series of diseases such as mental retardation, dark adaptation disorder, late sexual maturity, and adult dwarfism. Therefore, for the health of the baby, MSG should be consumed sparingly during breastfeeding. (3) Lactating mothers should avoid drinking cola drinks during breastfeeding: because cola drinks contain caffeine, which can enter the baby’s body through breast milk, and caffeine is harmful to the baby’s growth and development, so women who are breastfeeding should avoid drinking cola drinks. (4) Avoid eating cold food during breastfeeding: Cold food is a big no-no for breastfeeding women. This is because the stimulation of cold food can inhibit the lactation reflex and the ejection reflex through the central nervous system, resulting in a significant reduction of milk in the breasts and the phenomenon of less milk or no milk when breastfeeding. Therefore, lactating mothers should eat as little cold food as possible during breastfeeding. In addition, lactating mothers should avoid spicy foods, such as strong alcohol and chili peppers, which can not only affect the quality of lactation, but also affect the growth and development of the baby when these substances enter the baby’s body through the milk. In particular, if the mother often drinks alcohol, it can cause the infant to develop motor disorders, which can be very prominent at the age of toddler.
