I don’t have a cold. What’s with the tickling cough?

There are many reasons why you don’t have a cold and your throat is always itchy and coughing, and the common ones are chronic pharyngitis, allergic pharyngitis, and variant asthma.
1. Chronic pharyngitis: chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane, submucosa and lymphatic tissues of the pharynx caused by a variety of factors such as bacterial, occupational and environmental factors, the pharynx can have a variety of discomforts, such as a foreign body sensation, burning sensation, dryness, and mild pain.
As the back wall of the pharynx is often stimulated by thicker secretions, resulting in an old itchy throat, triggering an irritating cough, which can cause nausea in severe cases.
2. Allergic pharyngitis: diffuse inflammation of the mucous membrane of the pharynx, submucosa and lymphatic tissue. There are many reasons, usually induced by contact with allergens, smoking, viral or bacterial infections. Early symptoms often include a continuous dry cough, a foreign body sensation in the pharynx, and an itchy throat. In severe cases, there may be sore throat, dyspnea and so on.
3. Variant asthma: it is a special type of asthma, mostly recurring in spring and fall, mostly related to endocrine disorders, mental stress and other factors, affected by the interaction of genetics and the environment, coughing is the only or the main manifestation of the symptoms, without obvious wheezing, shortness of breath and other symptoms. Many patients are accompanied by a scratchy throat.
