Do young people have more lung nodules?

Lung nodules are detected more often in young people during medical checkups, showing an upward trend, but they are mostly benign lesions.

Many young people need to be vigilant when they find small lung nodules on CT scan. Most of the nodules within 8mm in diameter are benign lesions, such as past infections with viruses, bacteria or Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which caused lung damage and left some calcified and fibrotic nodules, which generally do not affect lung function and do not require special treatment.

If there is a history of smoking for many years, and in a working environment with poor air quality for a long period of time, or if the diameter of the nodule is more than 8mm, it is necessary to further clarify the diagnosis, and to follow up regularly, and if necessary, to carry out pathological tests to clarify the nature of the nodule.

It is recommended to consult a doctor when lung nodules are found.
