It is mainly used for treating liver depression and stagnant Qi dystrophy, dystocia, menstrual irregularities, abdominal pain, breast distension and pain, dysmenorrhea, and qi stagnation and abdominal pain. Adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear. Caution should be exercised in cases of qi deficiency without stagnation, yin deficiency and blood heat.
Mucuna pruriens is warm in nature and has the effect of strengthening the spleen, eliminating food, moving qi and relieving pain. It is used in dysentery, vomiting, chest and abdominal distension, diarrhea. Adverse reactions and contraindications, precautions are not clear. It should be used raw to move Qi, and simmered to solidify the bowels and stop diarrhea.
Wu Ling Li, Xiang Fu and Mu Xiang should be applied under the guidance of TCM practitioners for identification of symptoms, and should not be used on their own.
