Excessive eye use does not usually lead to deafness, but patients may experience discomfort such as soreness, dryness and blurred vision. Excessive eye use can lead to ciliary muscle spasm, visual fatigue, and also tend to increase the incidence of myopia as well as deepen the degree of myopia. If patients use their eyes excessively for a long period of time, they may experience eye pain, photophobia, tearing, and other uncomfortable symptoms, but it does not usually cause deafness. Deafness is usually caused by genetic factors, maternal influences during pregnancy, trauma, sudden changes in air pressure, diseases such as acoustic neuroma or otitis media, meningitis, measles, and ototoxic drugs. Excessive eye use is not included in the list of causes of deafness. It is recommended that patients with significant symptoms of eye discomfort seek medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow their doctor’s instructions.
