Pneumonia belongs to the category of “cough and wheezing” in traditional Chinese medicine, and it can be generally divided into such types as “Evil offending the lungs and guards”, “Heat closing the pericardium” and “Phlegm-heat congesting the lungs”, etc. According to the identification of the symptoms, we can take San’ao Tang or Sangju Drink, Qingying Tang, Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang with Reed Stem Tang, and Sheng Veins Wan with Four Reversed Soup to treat the disease respectively.

Evil attacking the lungs and guards: mainly manifested in the early stage of the disease, accompanied by cough and sputum, severe fever, chills, etc., the treatment should dredge the wind and clear away the heat, promote the lungs and stop coughing (to stop coughing by promoting the lungs and stopping coughing), and San’ao Tang or Sangju Drink with additions or subtractions can be taken for the treatment. During the medication period, attention should be paid to proper clothing, avoiding wind and cold, and avoiding heavy feeling.

It should be noted that the drug is cold, and is not recommended for patients with cold spleen and stomach.

Phlegm-heat congestion of the lungs: mainly manifested as shortness of breath, high fever, thirst and irritability, yellow and red urine, dry stools, etc., the treatment should be to clear away the heat and resolve phlegm, broaden the chest and stop coughing, can be taken as a combination of Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang and Reed Stem Soup plus subtractions. It should be noted that spicy and stimulating food should be avoided during the period of taking the medicine, so as to avoid aggravating the burden on the spleen and stomach.
