For the second branch of the nerve, the acupoints of choice are Shimonoseki, Zygomaticus, Sibai, Yingxiang, etc. For the third branch nerve, the acupuncture points are cheek car, etc. For intermittent patients, the main treatment is localized with distant acupuncture points. Local treatment is best done with shallow needles or with 2Hz wave therapy for 30-60 minutes. The distal tract acupuncture points can also be chosen from Hegu, Waiguan, Sanyinjiao, and Feosanli to drain the Yang Ming Shaoyang Qi. Because trigeminal neuralgia is a recurrent disease, patients are often prone to anxiety and other emotions.
