What’s wrong with your child’s sore throat?

  A child’s sore throat can be caused by bacterial or viral infections or irritation from some diseases. Also, the irritation of some fumes can cause a sore throat in children.  Sometimes children have a sore throat when they have a cold, and a sore throat is often the first symptom of a cold. Most colds are caused by viruses and are followed by coughing and a runny nose after a sore throat.  Viral pharyngitis is also a cause of a sore throat. There are some viruses that cause a sore throat and have no other symptoms, in which case antibiotics are mostly useless.  Bacterial infection of the tonsils can spread to other parts of the body and the main symptom is a unilateral sore throat, which is often the main cause of sore throat in children.  Some smoke irritation can also cause children’s sore throats, such as cigarette irritation. Some children feel discomfort in their throats after smelling cigarettes. Because children’s throats are extremely sensitive, they will react after being exposed to cigarettes and show a sore throat.  There are many main causes of sore throats in children, and parents need to be aware that some diseases are caused by some viral infections that may cause very serious diseases.
