There are many causes of varicose veins in the lower extremities, such as deep venous valve insufficiency, Buga syndrome, inferior vena cava syndrome, sequelae of deep vein thrombosis, arteriovenous fistula, KT syndrome, etc. Firstly, the cause needs to be identified and then targeted treatment measures should be taken. The most common causes of varicose veins in the lower extremities are saphenous varicose veins and deep vein valve insufficiency, and I will mainly introduce the treatment of these two conditions.
For varicose veins of the lower extremities, the current international common name is chronic lower extremity venous insufficiency. It can be classified into six grades in terms of severity of the condition.
Grade I: capillary dilatation
Grade II: superficial venous reticular dilatation
Grade 3: Swelling, or swelling and discomfort of the lower extremities.
Grade IV: with skin color change: dark skin color, or venous eczema, itching.
Grade V: with a healed ulcer
Grade VI: with unhealed ulcers
According to the above grading, it is generally considered that grade I does not require special treatment, or medical elastic stockings can be worn, together with oral medication to prevent further development. If you want to treat it completely, you can choose local sclerotherapy injection or laser treatment.
Grade II can be treated surgically or conservatively (wearing elastic stockings and taking oral medication) depending on the situation.
Grade III or above should be treated by active surgery (as long as there is no contraindication to surgery). Conservative treatment can only relieve the symptoms and slow down the development, but cannot solve the underlying problem.
The choice of surgical modality.
1, simple saphenofemoral valve or saphenous vein valve closure insufficiency, perform high ligation and stripping of saphenous vein can achieve satisfactory results. It is also not easy to recur after surgery. With electrocoagulation, laser and other minimally invasive treatment can also achieve good results.
2, combined with deep vein valve closure insufficiency, simple high saphenous vein ligation and stripping can also significantly improve the symptoms, but some people will relapse after surgery. It is necessary to add deep vein valve repair or strengthening surgery (such as deep vein wear ring surgery, etc.) according to the site and morphology of deep vein valve, which can further improve the efficacy.
3.For small range, or postoperative recurrence of varicose veins, sclerotherapy can be used.
4.For young women with less serious varicose veins and those with higher cosmetic requirements, minimally invasive surgical procedures such as sclerotherapy injection, electrocoagulation and intradermal suturing can be used. This kind of surgery has no incision, small trauma, and basically no scar after surgery and does not affect the post-operative beauty.
5, for varicose veins late combined with ulcers (polycarbonate), can be completely surgery, can not completely surgery also feasible trauma around the vein suture ligation, can be expected to reduce the local venous hypertension, conducive to the healing of the trauma and prevent the recurrence of ulcers in the future.
Chinese medicine treatment.
Generally speaking, Grade 1 and Grade 2 patients mostly do not need to take Chinese medicine treatment, while Grade 3 or above patients have obvious effect with Chinese medicine treatment, which can reduce symptoms and help recovery as soon as possible. If combined with ulcers, the application of Chinese herbal medicine for internal and external use can promote early healing of the injured surface and eliminate swelling and reduce itching, etc.
Wearing medical elastic stockings: Wearing medical elastic stockings or playing elastic bandages can reduce the pressure of veins and prevent further expansion of superficial veins, which has an important role in reducing symptoms and preventing recurrence after surgery and should not be ignored. You should choose suitable medical elastic stockings, put them on when you get up in the morning and take them off when you go to bed at night.
