There are many reasons for bleeding after menstruation, such as ovulation. If this occurs about 7 days after menstruation, it may be due to the peak of estrogen, which stimulates the endometrium and causes a small amount of bleeding to occur. Normally, it is not treated clinically and can heal on its own. It may also be due to hyperplasia of the endometrium, uneven echogenicity of the endometrium, or endometrial polyps, which may cause bleeding after menstruation. Oral medications, such as short-acting or emergency contraceptives, or medications that promote blood circulation, may cause bleeding after menstruation because of the adverse effects of the medications. There is also a small amount of bleeding that may be caused after intercourse, because intercourse can irritate the cervix and may cause bleeding when there is cervical erosion.
