Tonsil cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the oropharynx. The time of development to advanced stage varies from person to person, and there is no exact time point in clinical practice.
Tonsil cancer originates from both sides of the oropharynx, and the most common type is squamous carcinoma, which is usually found in men over 40 years old. In the early stage, there is no obvious symptom, only discomfort in the pharynx, foreign body sensation, swelling of tonsils and local ulcers. If the disease is not detected early and treated promptly, it may develop into advanced stage within a few months; if effective treatment is taken at an early stage, the progression of the disease can be slowed down, and it may not even develop into advanced stage. The speed of disease progression is also related to the patient’s physical condition and mentality.
The key to affect the prognosis of tonsil cancer is early detection and early surgical excision treatment, which has better treatment effect.
