The use of high-frequency electric knives is not recommended for cardiac pacemakers. The electric knife current can interfere with the working circuits of the pacemaker and cause pacing malfunctions. High-frequency electric knife is not recommended to be used in the body of patients with pacemakers installed. The electric current emitted by the high-frequency electric knife can interfere with the normal working circuit of the pacemaker, so that the pacemaker can not act normally on the patient’s heart, causing the patient’s pacemaker malfunction, and resulting in damage to the organism. A pacemaker is an electronic therapeutic device implanted in the human body, mounted in a metal box, consisting of circuitry and batteries that provide energy through a pulse generator to stimulate the heart muscle contacted by the electrodes, causing the heart to contract. HF electrosurgery applies a high-frequency electric current to generate high temperatures, which melts the tissue and achieves removal of the marginalized area. High-frequency electrocautery can affect pacemakers, so it is not recommended. The use of high-frequency electrocautery is not recommended for cardiac pacemakers and should be used following a doctor’s advice if needed.
