Is it true that cholangiocarcinoma has a 100% recurrence rate?

Cholangiocarcinoma is a kind of malignant tumor of bile duct, and its recurrence rate is closely related to the clinical stage of the tumor and whether there is vascular invasion, not all cholangiocarcinomas have 100% recurrence rate. The recurrence rate of postoperative bile duct cancer is mainly caused by the recurrence of middle and late stage bile duct cancer, and the prognosis is relatively poor; the recurrence rate of early stage bile duct cancer without vascular invasion is usually lower, and the survival rate of patients is higher. Some early stage cholangiocarcinomas with no obvious vascular invasion and no cancer embolus are better graded and have very low recurrence rate. However, in some middle and late stage bile duct cancers, the tumor diameter is larger, the growth time is longer, and it has already invaded blood vessels, in this case, the probability of recurrence is also higher, even up to 100%. If patients suffer from cholangiocarcinoma and undergo surgical treatment, it is suggested that they should have regular review. If jaundice and other symptoms appear, it is recommended to consult doctor in time, improve relevant examination under doctor’s guidance, clarify the cause of disease and standardize treatment.
