Herbs that can treat snake venom include Chonglou and White-flower Snake Tongue Herb. 1. The efficacy of Chonglou is to clear away heat and detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain, cool the liver and calm the fear. It can be used alone in the treatment of insect and snake bites by pounding and applying externally. This product can also be used for the treatment of sore throat, boils and carbuncles, children’s heat and wind (too much accumulation of heat will cause wind), epilepsy and convulsions, bruises and injuries. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Chonglou are not clear. 2. The efficacy of White-flower Snake Tongue Herb is to clear away heat and detoxify, subdue swelling and dissipate lumps, and relieve dampness and gonorrhea. It can be used in the treatment of venomous snake bite, cancer, carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the bowels, manifested by fever, right abdominal pain and palpable lumps), dysentery, jaundice, lung-heat cough, sore throat and so on.
