Can vaccinations be given to premature babies?

Full-term healthy babies will receive the hepatitis B vaccine and BCG vaccine one or two days after birth. Due to the low weight and unstable condition of premature babies at birth, most cannot receive vaccinations immediately after birth like full-term babies. If they weigh 2.5 kg after birth and are healthy, they should go to the community health department as soon as possible to receive the hepatitis B vaccine, while the BCG vaccine should be administered at the local tuberculosis clinic. There are many vaccinations to be given within a baby’s first year of life, so be sure to listen to your health care provider’s request to get vaccinated on time to prevent various infectious diseases.
