Family History of Ovarian Cancer

Patient: I am 37 and unmarried. My mother died of ovarian cancer and last year my sister also suffered from ovarian cancer, my sister and I are twins. My ca125 test was 26 in February this year and rose to 31 again in July. An ultrasound showed that my ovaries are fine and I only have a cervical nuchal cyst. I would like to ask Dr. Liu, is it still necessary for me to have a CT? Can you give me some advice on what I should do to avoid this disease? Wenxin Liu, Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Tianjin Cancer Hospital: Ovarian cancer does have some family heritability, if you have the condition, you can have a genetic test to see if you are positive for the ovarian cancer susceptibility gene. It is recommended to have regular comprehensive checkups, including breast, whole abdomen BUS, cervical examination, etc. If abnormalities are found, timely treatment can be provided, and any tumor can be cured if detected early. If your BUS is whole abdomen, there is no need to do CT now, just review it after 3 months.
