How to deal with swollen hands and feet in the late stage of lung cancer

The swelling of hands and feet in late stage of lung cancer is usually caused by hypoproteinemia due to tumor depletion or liver and kidney function damage due to tumor metastasis. In terms of treatment, hypoproteinemia is mainly treated by appropriate plasma or human albumin infusion to increase plasma colloid osmotic pressure. On the basis of correcting the hypoproteinemia, diuretics should be applied as appropriate, and generally the swelling of hands and feet can be relieved to some extent. In normal life, we should pay attention to eat more high-protein food and strengthen nutritional support, and elevate the lower limbs appropriately when sleeping, which is also helpful to reduce the swelling of the limbs. Another condition is that lung cancer and metastatic lymph nodes compress the superior vena cava, resulting in obstruction of venous return throughout the body.
