Sodium bicarbonate tablets are used to relieve stomach pain, heartburn sensation and acid reflux caused by excessive stomach acid; the application of this drug alone is not effective in lowering uric acid. Taking sodium bicarbonate tablets alone is not able to achieve significant lowering of uric acid, because sodium bicarbonate tablets are only an alkaline drug that has the effect of neutralizing stomach acid. The drug can alkalize the urine and promote uric acid excretion, but it usually needs to be used together with other uric acid-lowering drugs to achieve a clear lowering of uric acid. Adverse effects of belching and secondary increased gastric acid secretion may occur after administration of the drug, which usually recovers after discontinuation of the drug. It should be contraindicated for people with hypernatremia, or patients who are allergic to its components. This drug should not be taken for a long period of time, adverse reactions of muscle weakness and spasms can occur. You can test the blood uric acid, as well as the level of uric acid in 24-hour urine, to determine exactly what is the cause of increased uric acid, and deal with the cause. If you have high uric acid, you should consult a doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for scientific and reasonable treatment, and not blindly use the medicine on your own.
