Mammogram grade 5 is potentially more serious, indicating a very high likelihood of malignancy, i.e. >95% likelihood of breast cancer.
The BI-RADS classification is an assessment of the likelihood of a breast lump being benign or malignant based on a breast ultrasound or mammogram, and can be categorized into 0 to 6. Mammogram grade 5 indicates a very high likelihood of malignancy, with a >95% likelihood of breast cancer, which is more serious compared to a grade 0-4 lump.
Most breast cancers have a good prognosis and can be prolonged by comprehensive treatment such as radical surgery, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, etc., and some patients can even be cured. Fewer breast cancers have poor prognosis, such as triple-negative breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer and so on. The overall prognosis of breast cancer is better than other malignant tumors such as pancreatic cancer.
It is recommended that patients with grade 5 Mammogram be seen promptly for further biopsy, radical surgery and immunohistochemistry.
