Is it esophageal cancer if you’ve been having trouble swallowing for years?

Difficulty in swallowing for several years is not necessarily esophageal cancer, but the possibility of esophageal cancer cannot be completely excluded.
Clinical manifestations of esophageal cancer are progressive dysphagia, foreign body sensation when swallowing, burning sensation behind the sternum and so on. It is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examination and treatment after clear diagnosis.
Esophageal cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the esophagus. Esophageal cancer is caused by a lot of reasons: eating hot food, or spicy and stimulating, and eating pickled food, such as salted vegetables and other nitrite-rich food, which will have a negative impact on the development of esophageal tumors; and frequent smoking will also increase the risk of developing esophageal cancer.
Dysphagia may also be caused by chronic pharyngitis, esophageal smooth muscle tumor, paralytic dysphagia.
Long-term dysphagia patients are recommended to consult a doctor in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and carry out targeted treatment. Diet should not be too hot, eat less nitrite-rich foods, quit smoking and drinking, and exercise appropriately.
