How to treat chondrodysplasia

Once detected, chondrodysplasia can only be treated symptomatically, as there is no fundamental treatment for this genetically related disease. The following treatments are commonly used: 1) Early treatment with braces, such as spinal braces, can be used to prevent deformities in the spine, which can cause deformities in the patient’s body and stimulate compression of the nervous system. 2) Severe deformities in the limbs can be treated with osteotomies and orthopedic surgery. The purpose of such surgery is mainly two, one is to correct the abnormal deformation of the bone, the second is to produce an appropriate limb lengthening of the obvious limb shortening. 3, the need for a series of spinal canal expansion surgery, this situation is due to the existence of internal stenosis or occupancy of the spinal canal, such as the patient’s cervical or lumbar spinal canal, to take the posterior open surgery, in order to reduce the nervous system compression. 4, Treatment with growth hormone can be tried, but this approach is only therapeutic for a small percentage of patients.
