Is nappy dermatitis related to nappies?

The development of nappy dermatitis is mainly related to localised friction, moisture in the nappy area and prolonged skin irritation from urine and faeces.
If a nappy is not changed for a long time, it affects its breathability and increases the dampness of the diaper area; also, the softness of the inside of the nappy affects the friction between the baby’s buttocks and the diaper.
Parents who do not clean and care for their infant’s buttocks properly and do not change nappies regularly, whether using regular nappies or nappies, are at increased risk of developing nappy dermatitis.
