The 5-year survival rate of advanced bowel cancer varies from person to person, and there are big differences in different pathologic types and different treatment modalities. The five-year survival rate of stage III colon cancer is 20%-30%, while the five-year survival rate of stage IV colon cancer is often less than 10%; the five-year survival rate of advanced rectal cancer is normally less than 10%. Patients with advanced intestinal cancer can have their life prolonged after active comprehensive treatment, such as combined surgical treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine according to patients’ conditions, but the specific survival time varies from person to person. Some patients have a better prognosis and can survive for several years, and some of them can even survive with tumor for a long time. Some patients may have a poorer prognosis and can only survive for a few months or a year. It is recommended that patients actively cooperate with the treatment, learn about the new advances in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease through various channels, and at the same time build up the courage and confidence to fight against the disease, so as to achieve a better therapeutic effect as possible and prolong their life.
