Swimming tinnitus may be caused by fluid in the external auditory canal, acute secretory otitis media, etc. Causal and symptomatic treatment should be chosen according to the symptomatic features and the degree of illness.
1. Water in the ear: When swimming, the patient may get water in the ear, which may lead to tinnitus. It is recommended to clean up the water in the ear after swimming, and the symptoms of tinnitus will often disappear.
2. Acute secretory otitis media: when swimming, there is often nasal choking and intermittent closed-air process, pathogenic bacteria in the water and chemical disinfectants can stimulate the eustachian tube inflammatory reaction, secondary acute secretory otitis media. It can be manifested as intermittent low-pitched tinnitus sound.
Penicillin broad-spectrum antibiotics can be used for anti-infection treatment, short-term oral prednisone and other glucocorticoids, nasal spray hydroxymetazoline and other decongestants, and Eustachian tube blowing treatment. When the effect of conservative treatment is not good, tympanocentesis, tympanotomy can be used.
If swimming tinnitus occurs and does not improve in the short term, or is accompanied by other symptoms, it is necessary to actively consult a doctor for examination, to clarify the diagnosis and the extent of the disease, and then standardize the treatment in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
