However, it also depends on whether the rabies vaccine was given in its entirety a year ago. If five shots were given in its entirety or four shots were given using the four-shot method, only a booster shot is needed at this time, not a full shot. The number of booster shots is divided by one year, and it is unlikely that the time of the bite will be exactly one year. If it is slightly less than a year, you can get a booster shot of two rabies shots, and if it is slightly more than a year, you can get a booster shot of three rabies shots. If the rabies vaccine was not given in its entirety a year ago, but only one or two intermittent doses, the rabies vaccine still needs to be given in its entirety, or four doses using the four-dose method.
