Children’s gums are red and swollen, may be gingivitis, chronic apical periodontitis or is erupting new teeth, need to gingival cleaning, root canal treatment or medication and other symptomatic treatment in order to quickly control the inflammation.
1. Gingivitis: mainly due to poor oral hygiene, resulting in bacteria adhering to the surface of the teeth, leading to inflammation and redness of the gums, bleeding and other symptoms of brushing, it is recommended that children with good cooperation to carry out supragingival cleaning; if not, then the use of proper brushing, morning and evening brushing, rinsing after meals, as far as possible to maintain oral hygiene.
2. Root canal treatment: Children’s milk tooth caries usually progresses faster and easily affects the root of the tooth. This leads to the formation of a fistula in the apical part of the root, redness and swelling of the gums of the affected tooth, and pus overflow. Root canal treatment is needed to remove the decayed tissue and inflamed pulp.
3. New tooth eruption: When the tooth breaks through the gums and emerges, if oral hygiene is not well maintained, it will easily lead to swelling of the gums covering the upper part of the tooth. Redness, swelling, pain is obvious, can be prescribed oral cephalosporin drugs for anti-inflammatory treatment, such as cefaclor, cefdinir and so on.
Red and swollen gums are usually associated with poor oral hygiene and sanitation, and it is recommended that children be trained in good oral health and hygiene.
