The word “anemia” is not new to anyone, but it is not easy for the average person to say what it is, and many patients cannot tell what the relationship is between anemia and hypotension. Anemia is very common in clinical practice, and many people suffer from anemia without knowing it. Because anemia occurs slowly and the symptoms are less obvious, it is not given enough attention. Anemia refers to a decrease in the number of red blood cells in the circulating blood and/or a decrease in the concentration of hemoglobin, which is commonly known as “blood, diluted”. The hemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen from the alveoli to the body for various metabolic uses and transporting carbon dioxide produced by metabolism to the alveoli for exhalation. When anemia occurs and gradually worsens, a series of anemia manifestations will gradually appear. Anemia can affect the supply of oxygen to all systems of the body and cause discomfort. Dizziness and weakness are common manifestations of anemia and are caused by insufficient oxygen supply to brain tissue due to anemia. However, there are many different diseases that can cause such discomfort, so the first step is to consult a neurologist to rule out neurological pathologies. Also, do not forget to have a blood test to determine if the patient is anemic. Anemia should also be considered when you have panic attacks, shortness of breath and decreased endurance for activities, because when anemia occurs, hemoglobin decreases and the heart has to work harder to maintain blood supply to tissues and organs throughout the body, increasing the number of beats per minute, speeding up the heartbeat and making each heart contraction more powerful to pump more blood and make The blood in the blood vessels flows faster. The heart works harder especially when the body’s oxygen demand increases during activity. This can make up for the lack of oxygen supply caused by anemia in the short term, but in the long term, if the anemia is not corrected soon, the heart will always be in overload, and the heart will gradually increase in size and the ventricular walls will gradually become hypertrophied, and in serious cases, heart failure will occur, and this will lead to “anemic heart disease”. The symptoms of abdominal distension and indigestion when anemia occurs are mainly caused by the lack of blood and oxygen in the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas and other digestive organs. In the case of nutritional megaloblastic anemia caused by folic acid and/or vitamin B12 deficiency, there are also signs of loss of taste, numbness of the mouth and tongue, and a red tongue with little coating, which looks like beef when there is no coating on the tongue, also known as “beef tongue” or “strawberry tongue”. Pale or pale yellow face and pale lips are the most obvious external manifestations of anemia, and some women who love beauty will put on blush and lipstick before going out, which will affect the doctor’s judgment of the degree of anemia, and we will often open the patient’s eyelids for observation to understand the patient’s anemia more accurately. For example, in patients with iron deficiency anemia, especially in some children with iron deficiency, some of them have “xenophagia”, chewing wall skin, eating dirt, biting pencils, chewing wire ……. It’s strange, isn’t it? The reason for this is not very clear, but it may be related to iron deficiency leading to impaired synthesis of iron-requiring enzymes in the body. When iron deficiency anemia also appears hair dry and easily broken, spoon-shaped fingers, spoon-shaped fingers you have seen? It is also known as “anticoronary”, which means that the nail cap is turned over, concave in the middle and high around, like a small spoon. There are many other signs of anemia, which I will explain to you later. When you find any discomfort in your body, your doctor will usually give you a routine blood test when you go to the hospital. It is easy to determine whether you are suffering from anemia, and you can also make a general guess about the cause of anemia.
