Etiology, diagnosis and treatment of acute appendicitis

1.Etiology The disease is caused by a combination of multiple factors such as obstruction of the appendiceal lumen and bacterial invasion. 2.Symptoms The typical abdominal pain starts in the upper abdomen, gradually moves to the umbilicus, and then shifts and is confined to the right lower abdomen after a few hours (metastatic right lower abdominal pain). There may be gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting, abdominal distension and diarrhea, and even generalized symptoms such as general malaise, fever and palpitations in the early stage of the disease. 3.Diagnosis Consistent with the typical metastatic right lower abdominal pain, fixed pressure pain at the appendix site, and increased white blood cell count in blood routine can basically diagnose this disease. If necessary, the diagnosis can be clarified by combining with abdominal X-ray, B ultrasound, CT and laparoscopy. Once diagnosed, the majority of patients with acute appendicitis should undergo early appendectomy. Surgical methods can be divided into traditional open surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic appendectomy has become the procedure of choice for the majority of patients because of its superiority of less trauma, less pain, faster recovery and beautiful wound. For patients with early inflammation and mild symptoms, non-surgical methods such as bed rest, fasting, intravenous rehydration and anti-inflammation, pain relief and symptomatic can be used to promote early disappearance of appendiceal inflammation. 5.Recommendations It is generally necessary to be seen by a specialist before deciding what treatment plan to use according to the actual situation of the patient.
