Chemotherapy is useful in the middle and late stages of gastric cancer. If the patient’s body can tolerate chemotherapy, systemic chemotherapy is recommended for patients with middle and late stages of gastric cancer, through which some of them can control the tumor and prolong life. Especially for patients in the middle stage, after the tumor shrinks through chemotherapy, it can be surgically removed again and even cured. Besides chemotherapy, if immunohistochemistry shows that HER-2 is strongly positive, trastuzumab combined with chemotherapy can also improve the efficacy. If the disease has progressed after the application of chemotherapy for gastric cancer, targeted drugs such as oral apatinib can also be chosen for treatment.
