What is the purpose of wearing compression stockings after varicose vein surgery in the lower extremities?

The significance of a pair of specially designed and strictly controlled medical elastic stockings is mainly due to their progressive pressure decreasing from the ankle upwards, contracting the calf muscles to prevent the veins from filling up so that the blood flows back to the heart, sculpting the legs, beautifying the curves, improving carrot legs and preventing varicose veins. The medical compression stocking establishes the highest support pressure at the ankle and gradually decreases upward along the leg. This decreasing pressure can make the veins of the lower extremities return to the blood flow, effectively relieving or improving the pressure on the veins and valves of the lower extremities. After surgery, we routinely recommend that patients wear medical compression stockings for three months, always during the daytime activities, and take them off at night when they sleep. By wearing compression stockings, we can reduce the recurrence rate of varicose veins and further reduce the incidence of postoperative complications of deep vein thrombosis.
