How to train more pediatric asthma doctors

Most of them were first-time patients, including those with recurrent wheezing episodes, those who were already suspected of having asthma in other hospitals, and those who were already diagnosed in other hospitals and wanted to be diagnosed again. Under-diagnosis and over-diagnosis of asthma in children are the most common problems. The main reason for the misdiagnosis of asthma in children is that pediatricians are not familiar with asthma control guidelines and cannot apply them flexibly. The most typical example is the simple conclusion that “wheezing 3 times is asthma”. It also reflects the current lack of pediatric asthma specialists. Although we give up our rest time and work overtime, we still cannot meet the needs of patients, making it difficult to register and causing long queues for consultation. To change this situation, more pediatric asthma specialists need to be trained so that children with asthma can be well treated locally. The incidence of childhood asthma has doubled every decade, and childhood asthma has become a common chronic disease in pediatrics. The treatment of childhood asthma is different from general diseases, not simply medication, but requires patience and love from doctors, teaching children how to use medication, supervising adherence to medication, encouraging children to build confidence, and relieving parents of psychological burdens, as well as keeping good management records and providing convenience for children’s follow-up. Here we call for more people to pay attention to childhood asthma and more pediatricians to choose the cause of childhood asthma. With your participation, the cause of childhood asthma will definitely have a brilliant tomorrow.
