Fecal impaction is a condition in which the water in the stool is excessively absorbed, causing the stool to dry up into a ball, blocking it in the lower rectum and preventing it from passing out of the anus on its own. Fecal impaction is more common in the elderly and bedridden people; it is also common in people who are weak and unable to defecate for a long time and in people with hepatic stenosis. The main clinical manifestations of fecal impaction are not relieving stool for many days, frequent bowel movements without defecation or only a small amount of foul smelling dilute fecal water; the patient has abdominal distension, anal swelling, and sometimes feels swelling and anal pain in the sacral crotch. The diagnosis of fecal impaction is not difficult, based on the history of several days without defecation, and then do the finger examination in the anus, you can touch the rectal cavity of the huge dry fecal ball, you can confirm the diagnosis. The treatment of fecal impaction is divided into three steps. First, dig out the dry feces with your fingers, so that there is a certain space in the rectal cavity to prepare for the second step. Second, repeatedly clean enema in 500 ml of saline with 40-60 ml of corkage, using an enema or 50 ml syringe, first 100-200 ml into the anus, retain for about 2 minutes and then go to the bathroom to discharge, and then repeatedly 3-4 times, each time the amount of enema in more than 300 ml. The third step is conditioning with drugs. After the second step is completed, the dry feces will have been discharged and the patient will feel very happy, at this time, gastrointestinal dynamics and laxatives are given orally for conditioning. Commonly used drugs such as morpholine tablets, 10 mg each time, 3 times a day for 5 days; or maren laxative pills, 1 pill twice a day for 3-5 days. If diarrhea and side effects occur during the course of the medication, stop taking the medication and see a doctor if necessary. The results of this treatment are very good, and the prognosis is also very good. Fecal impaction is painful, so it should be actively prevented, and the method of prevention is the same as the method of prevention of constipation.
