What are the possible causes of mixed masses

Mixed masses usually present as abnormal-like growths in the body’s tissues and organs during ultrasound or CT or MRI examinations. Mixed masses are usually found in the ovaries, uterus, adnexa, or in the urinary tract breast and other organs that may have mixed mass growths. The most likely cause of a mixed mass is an inflammatory infection, such as an inflammatory mass that appears diffuse, encapsulated, or exuding, and will have mixed mass echogenicity. Another possible cause of a mixed mass is a tumor, such as a mixture of benign tumorigenic hyperplasia and malignant carcinoma, both of which may appear on ultrasound or CT and MRI imaging, with mixed mass findings reported.
