How long can you live after pancreatic cancer surgery?

How long you can live after pancreatic cancer surgery varies from person to person, and it is mainly closely related to the stage of pancreatic cancer, the earlier the stage of pancreatic cancer, the longer the survival time after surgery. Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant tumor of the digestive system with a 5-year survival rate of only about 6%. Because it is a retroperitoneal organ, it leads to certain difficulties in diagnosis and treatment. After radical surgery for early stage pancreatic cancer, patients have a better prognosis and some of them can survive for more than 10 years or even 20 years. However, early stage pancreatic cancer has no obvious symptoms and most patients are already in the middle to late stage of pancreatic cancer when they visit the doctor. Most of these patients will recur in 6-12 months after surgery, and the 5-year survival rate is only about 5%. Although the malignancy of pancreatic cancer is high and the prognosis is poor, patients with pancreatic cancer should go to the oncology department for standardized treatment in time to prolong the survival and improve the quality of life as much as possible.
