The following is from my QQ space, 2009.1.18 Yan Ming, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Henan Cancer Hospital Overview Lung cancer occurs in the bronchial mucosa epithelium, also known as bronchopulmonary cancer. In recent 50 years, many countries have reported a significant increase in the incidence of lung cancer, and lung cancer has taken the first place among male cancer patients. The World Health Organization survey reported that in many countries and regions, the incidence of lung cancer occupies the first place among malignant tumors. There are more men than women, and the ratio of men to women is about 4~8:1. There are more urban than rural areas. Most of the patients are over 40 years old, and a few are under 40 years old. Most lung cancers originate from bronchial mucosa epithelium, so it is called bronchial lung cancer. Lung cancer is its abbreviation or common name. The treatment of lung cancer is surgical resection as the first choice. If the primary cancer is confined to the bronchopulmonary area and distant metastasis and lymph node metastasis have not yet occurred, the survival rate after surgery can reach more than 50% in 5 years. The WHO reported in 1997 that lung cancer is the first cause of cancer death, and there are 1.38 million new cases of lung cancer in the world every year, including 390,000 women and 990,000 men. In 1999, lung cancer was again reported to be the number one cause of cancer death. In almost all countries around the world, the incidence of lung cancer in men is increasing, however, in Finland, the United Kingdom and the United States, where smoking rates are decreasing, the incidence of lung cancer has been trending down in recent years. The results of cancer death survey in China from 1990 to 1992 showed that the mortality rate of lung cancer was 7.17/100,000 population in the 1990s and 15.19/100,000 population in the 1990s. 20 years of change, the mortality rate of lung cancer increased by 111.85%. Lung cancer death accounts for the third cause of cancer death in China, the first in urban areas and the fourth in rural areas.
