What does HPV biopsy mean?

HPV biopsy means that the cervical epithelium is found to be infected with high-risk HPV through laboratory tests. The persistence of high-risk HPV infection can lead to cervical epithelial lesions and even to cervical cancer. Therefore, if a high-risk HPV infection is found, colposcopy must be done and a cervical biopsy must be done at the same time and the biopsy tissue must be sent for pathological examination so that the clinical diagnosis will not be missed. The pathology results will be available in five working days after the biopsy, and the pathology diagnosis will be used to determine whether the next step of treatment is needed. In addition, if there is no lesion, regular review should be given.
