What can be examined by MRI of the neck

MRI of the neck can examine diseases in the following areas: First, it can examine diseases related to the cervical spine. This type of MRI is very sensitive to soft tissue related lesions and can show very effectively both early as well as intermediate and late stage lesions. For some other common diseases of the cervical spine, such as cervical disc herniation, ligamentous hypertrophy, calcification, osteophytes or occupations within the spinal canal and cervical medulla-related lesions, effective diagnostic basis can be obtained through this type of examination. Secondly, vascular related examination can be done. There are a series of important large blood vessels in the neck, such as the jugular vein, carotid artery, vertebral artery and so on, and the corresponding MRI and enhanced angiography of the cervical spine can clearly distinguish whether there are lesions of the above-mentioned blood vessels. Thirdly, we can do the examination of related glands. In the neck, there is a thyroid gland and a series of lymph nodes around it. If there are some lesions in the above mentioned parts, taking MRI of the cervical spine is also a very good way to check. Fourth, it is possible to examine lesions related to the trachea and esophagus. There are these two tubes in the front of the cervical spine, and MRI of the cervical spine can detect whether there are any corresponding lesions inside these two tubes, such as foreign bodies or tumors.
