Thyroid pain can be caused by ruptured and bleeding thyroid nodule, subacute thyroiditis, thyroid cancer and so on, and the treatment varies according to different causes. 1. Thyroid nodule rupture and bleeding: it can be manifested as rapid enlargement of thyroid nodule, swelling and pain in the neck, which generally does not require urgent treatment and can be recovered through clinical observation; serious compression of the airway requires urgent surgery to stop bleeding and relieve respiratory difficulties. 2. Subacute thyroiditis: mostly due to viral infections, often secondary to upper respiratory tract infections, patients may show pressure pain in the thyroid gland. Subacute thyroiditis is a self-limiting disease, that is, when the disease progresses to a certain degree, it will get better on its own, and usually does not require special treatment. For some patients with severe symptoms, glucocorticoid therapy may be used. 3. Thyroid cancer: Surgical resection is a common treatment for thyroid cancer, which can treat all types of thyroid cancer except undifferentiated cancer; radioactive iodine treatment is also available. There may be other reasons for thyroid pain, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy.
