How to do a biopsy

Biopsy is required to remove the mass completely and send it for pathological examination. Biopsy is performed when the nature of the mass is not clear, i.e., not sure whether it is benign or malignant, or if there is a lesion in the body and there is a high suspicion of lymph node metastasis, i.e., malignant metastasis, 1-2 lymph nodes need to be removed for examination. First, the patient is placed in a flat position, and after the lymph nodes are disinfected twice with iodophor, lidocaine is applied under the skin for local anesthesia. After the anesthesia takes effect, an incision is made along the skin line on the surface of the lymph nodes, and the skin is cut open and then bluntly and sharply separated to find the lymph nodes, and the lymph nodes are completely removed. The excised lymph nodes will be sent for pathological examination, which will be made into pathological sections after 2-3 days of formalin fixation to give a clear pathological diagnosis.
