How to treat leukemia with chemotherapy

Chemotherapy for leukemia is an important means of treating malignant tumors by using some chemically synthesized drugs to kill tumor cells or inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Generally speaking, chemotherapy for leukemia (take acute myeloid leukemia as an example) includes induction remission therapy, consolidation intensive therapy and maintenance therapy, with a total course of 2~3 years and a high overall cure rate.
Chemotherapy is the main treatment for acute myeloid leukemia.
1. The first stage of treatment is mainly “induction therapy”, which usually adopts 3+7 standard chemotherapy (7 days of cytarabine plus 3 days of anthracyclines).
2. Then there is post-remission treatment, mainly intensive consolidation chemotherapy or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (with drugs similar to induction therapy), and another type of demethylation drug therapy, mainly represented by decitabine, which is mainly used for elderly patients who are intolerant to high-intensity chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy for different types of leukemia is somewhat different, the specific chemotherapy program should be implemented in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, not private treatment. In daily life, pay attention to rest, avoid exertion, due to low immunity, should pay attention to protection, avoid infection. If there is any discomfort, consult a doctor in time.
