What to do if your newborn’s jaundice hasn’t gone down in 15 days

If the jaundice of a newborn baby has not subsided after 15 days, it may be caused by physiological jaundice, breast milk jaundice, pathological jaundice, etc. The main treatments are general treatment, blue light irradiation treatment and blood exchange therapy.
1. Physiological jaundice: if the newborn is in normal spirit, has normal milk intake and the level of jaundice is not very high, it usually does not need special treatment, and will gradually subside on its own, but we should pay attention to observation.
2. Breast milk jaundice: it is mainly caused by exclusive breast milk or breast milk-based feeding, it will reach the peak in about two weeks, and then gradually subside, usually no special treatment is needed, suspension of breast milk for a few days will gradually recover.
3. Pathological jaundice: for example, hemolytic jaundice, often need to take blue light therapy or blood exchange therapy.
If the jaundice of a newborn has not subsided after 15 days, and if it is accompanied by abnormalities in the amount of milk consumed by the spirit, the newborn should consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of the jaundice and then target treatment.
