According to TCM, chronic nephritis can be categorized as “edema”, “lumbago”, and “hemorrhagic drenching (blood in the urine with pain)”, etc. The treatment is mainly through the identification of the symptoms and the use of medication, which can be prescribed by the doctor. It can be treated with medicines such as Sijunzi Tang combined with Kidney Qi Pill, Jade Ping Feng San alloying Kukui Kidney Qi Pill, Pian Zi Lizhong Pill, or Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill, Qi Ju Di Huang Pill, Ginseng Astragalus Dihuang Tang and other medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
1. Sijunzi Tang combined with Kidney Qi Pill: It is applicable to the evidence of deficiency of spleen and kidney qi. Symptoms include lumbar and spinal pain, fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), or swelling, low food intake or epigastric distension, loose stools, frequent urination or excessive nocturia.
2. Yupingfeng San Alloy Kou Renqi Pill: It is suitable for the evidence of lung and kidney qi deficiency. Symptoms include swollen face or swollen limbs, fatigue, lack of energy and laziness, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with slight movement), easy to catch colds, lumbar spine pain, yellowish color, and so on.
3. Radix Rehmanniae Pill or Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill: It is suitable for spleen and kidney yang deficiency. Symptoms include generalized swelling, pale face, coldness, coldness of limbs, cold pain in the waist and spine, fatigue, low appetite, scanty stool, spermatorrhea, impotence, premature ejaculation, or menstrual disorders.
4. Qi Ju Di Huang Wan: It is suitable for Yin deficiency of liver and kidney. Symptoms include dry eyes or blurred vision, dizziness, tinnitus, heat in hands and feet, dry mouth and throat, lumbar spine pain, spermatorrhea, or menstrual disorders.
5. Radix Astragali and Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae Soup: It is suitable for the symptoms of deficiency of qi and yin. Symptoms such as lack of color, lack of energy, or easy to catch a cold, low fever in the afternoon, or heat in the hands, feet and heart, lumbar pain, or swelling, dry mouth and throat or pharynx dark red, pharyngeal pain, and so on.
