What is a glucose screening test?

Glucose screening test is a screening method to detect gestational diabetes and is performed at 24-28 weeks of pregnancy. On the day of the test, the pregnant woman is asked to take 75g of glucose orally on an empty stomach and then measure the blood glucose value 1 hour and 2 hours later respectively. If one of the values is higher than normal, further examination is needed to clarify the diagnosis. Gestational diabetes can lead to a series of adverse effects such as macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycemia, maternal ketoacidosis, etc. Patients with insignificant blood sugar elevation can achieve the purpose of lowering blood sugar through dietary therapy. Patients with unsatisfactory dietary control need to take oral medication or insulin injection to lower blood sugar under the guidance of doctors. Do not eat foods with high sugar content during pregnancy, and eat more vegetables and coarse grains.
