There is no evidence that Chinese herbs can expel sedimentary gallstones. Gallstones with symptoms or complications usually need to be treated surgically, and as an adjunctive treatment, Chinese herbs can facilitate recovery from gallstone surgery and complications. Gallstones include gallbladder stones and bile duct stones. A large number of stones and stones ≥2~3cm in diameter, calcification of the gallbladder wall or porcelain gallbladder, accompanied by gallbladder polyps ≥1cm, thickening of the gallbladder wall (>3mm) that is, accompanied by chronic cholecystitis, recurring symptoms, and stones in the form of silt are all indications of gallstone surgery, and should be operated at the earliest possible time. Traditional Chinese medicine can only improve symptoms, promote post-surgical recovery, and treat complications, but cannot solve the problem at the root of the diseased gallbladder. Patients with gallstones should consult a doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
